Have a look at easy bcd (google it). Use it to reset your mbr to use the vista loader, and then once you have verified that your mbr is in tact (and on the correct partition!), you may delete/recover...

WRONG!

I would be surprised if it DIDN'T work! So long as your key is, in fact, legit, it will install and activate. Remember Vista's protection scheme checks product keys, and not byte code.

Hold on i had this problem (but with ubuntu) There was this app i launched from my flash drive during boot up. I think its call fixmbr. Google it.

Uhm you can try that setting inside the system properties dialog under the Advanced tab, theres a performance button, when you click a visual effects dialog open. See if checking any of those...
