I'm not sure if im thinking of the same thing, but on my old headphones, the mic was really sensitive and the headphones were loud so it would pick up the sound.. i dont know. more detail..

Are you using vista? and whats your sound card..

go into : control panel>sound>microphone properties, then the custom tab.
