by a new computer. try an older version of kubuntu.

if your computer is too old i'd try Xubuntu.

centos is mostly a server os. ubuntu is pretty much debian.

Debian is very fast. If you have a fast computer, I recommend SLED 10.

SuSE is very good, but has requires high specs.

I recommend debain. easy to install, and very fast. you might also want to look at slackware, a little bit trickier, but a very fast distro.

You can get ubuntu shipped to your door from canonical. You can also download it for free from various internet sites. Best Buy is just trying to make some money.

I agree. vista is not bad at all. It's a good OS. yes it takes good hardware, but if you don't have it already, you need to upgrade anyways.

Red Hat and Novell don't give a crap about the Mobile OS. They are in the enterprise business, and that's where they'll stay. It's going to take the manufacturers to promote linux on their hardware...

you might have to manually configure xorg, or whatever you're using. You'll have to edit the text file, but i can't remember where it's located at.
