Hi. I've been away for a few days.
I tried downloading and running Silent Runners but it didn't work. I even tried disabling Comodo, but all I ever got was a "starting download" prompt from Firefox. This, after right-clicking on the Download link as you suggested. Doing this placed "sr_download" on my desktop, but when I double-clicked the file, I got sent to another webpage. It was there that I tried 'save link as' on the 'click here' prompt for revision 55 and got the endless "starting download" teaser.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.

Can you try retrieveing it with Internet Explorer? If you cannot get it, PM me your email and I will send it to you.

Hello,
I've read and re-read this thread, but it seems as though this problem needs an individualized approach, so I've pasted in the most recent HJT log below. I really hope someone can help me (crunchie? Are you out there?), since my machine has essentially been broken for two weeks now.
My problem seems different than the OP's, though, so I'm a bit worried. Here's what I'm encountering:
--Downloader.Mislead.app found by Symantec anti-virus (corporate) repeatedly, even after quarantine/delete (which it tells me is successful...)
--Spybot S&D finds nothing major (a couple of tracking cookies after the latest scan)
--The machine will randomly do something that I thought was a BSOD while it is idling (when booted into normal mode, XP Pro, SP2)
--However, these sort-of BSOD's can be interrupted by hitting any key, at which point the machine resumes functioning as though nothing happened. If I don't hit a key, it reboots.
--A weird folder is continually created in the registry called rhc30bj0ej17.exe (the file associated with Downloader.Mislead.app, apparently
I hope you can help! Also, please let me know which mode I should boot into to execute the things you advise (safe mode, safe mode w/ networking, regular mode).
Thank you.
