Hello all,
Wardog Studios is a 4 year old game development company, developing a Mech-based MMO on the Multiverse platform. Our pre-alpha concept has been showcased at the 2006 and 2007 Austin Game Developers Conference and the 2007 GDC in San Francisco, and we plan on doing so again at GDC 2008. We have been featured on several game related podcasts, and most recently in the December 2007 edition of Igromania, the largest Russian language gaming magazine. We have business relationships with Multiverse, Intel, Online Game Servers, Inc., Hero Games, and the soon to be re-released Gamics site (comics from games).
All of this has been acheived as an independant game developer, or Indie. Our company is privately funded by us, the engine is being developed by Multiverse, and we will develop our combat engine using the Hero system. The owners at WDS are all mature adults, each a professional in the IS/IT fields. Therein lies our only weakness, which leads me to this post.
We've done what we've done without a Python/Java coder. The lore is written, the models are done, the world has been created, the server is up and running, the business plan has worked up to this point, and we are excited about the future. But, we've been so busy doing all of that, wwe haven't had time to sit down and learn Python/Java, outside of a few hacks to get us by.
We're recruiting for one of two possibilities, the choice is up to you.
We could hire you as a contractor, handing you nickel and dime tasks day in and day out, for the weeks and months ahead. We'll define the code, you give us an estimate. If that's what you want to do with the knowledge and skill you've worked so hard to create, I wouldn't blame you. If it were easy, I wouldn't be posting this. Send me your resume to me via email, careers@wardogstudios.com (or directly at newcomb-at-wardogstudios-dot-com).
However, there is another option. We have considered bringing on the right person as an owner. Each of us have thousands of dollars sunk into this project, but we realize it won't go much further without someone capable of interfacing our dreams with the Multiverse platform. We don't want an investment from you, there are no catches or strings attached. We are a very public company with a track record of honesty, integrity, and enthusiasm for the future of our game with Multiverse. If this is an option for you, please contact me directly, and I'll be glad to answer any questions you might have.
If you have Java/Python experience, and are experienced with Ogre, please contact me either way. We have a game to make, and will need your services.
Thanks!
Jeff Newcomb

P.S. Would the "hall monitor" (you know who you are) who runs around posting to people's threads accusing posters of being 'scammers' please do a little research on our company before you spam this one with innuendo. I dislike those people as much as you do, but 2 minutes of your time might just impress you. Thanks in advance. :-)
