My Client is seeking a talented SENIOR DELPHI DEVELOPER who can step into a senior role on an existing project and take over responsibility for significant pieces of the application’s core functionality. We’re looking for an individual who can work independently within the framework of a project management structure and who has experience with the full life cycle of applications from requirements gathering to design, implementation and testing. The ideal candidate should be able to read, understand and take ownership of existing code, as well as develop significant pieces of new functionality from scratch. Strong design experience and knowledge of object-oriented programming is crucial.

The individual should have significant experience with database programming, object-oriented class design, and knowledge of commonly used design patterns and other software engineering principles. The ideal candidate will also have experience with and an interest in Microsoft’s .NET platform, preferably in the C# language, and will be able to help the organization as it transition its systems to .NET over the coming years. The position reports to the Manager of Software Development.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate as core member of development team producing new mission critical system, with full responsibility for critical components of application’s core foundation.
• Manage full life-cycle of additional features targeted for subsequent releases, including requirements capture, analysis and design, unit testing and user acceptance.
• Assist in team’s adoption of improved practices aimed at supporting the organization’s new Project Management Office and a more structured development process.
• Help migrate applications from Delphi to .NET as opportunity permits.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Expert knowledge of Delphi 7.0, including data access facilities, custom control development, and object-oriented class design
• Practical real-world experience implementing data-driven client-server applications., preferably using Oracle
• Ability to work with business unit professionals to capture requirements and manage life cycle of application features
• Experience in automated unit testing and build environment desirable
• Practical knowledge of XML, XPATH and XSLT for engineering data transfer to and from external service providers desirable
• Some exposure to .NET platform programming facilities and best practices; experience with integrating Delphi into .NET platform highly desirable

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required and a minimum of 4 years experience working with data-driven client-server application development on the Microsoft .platform. Specific experience with Oracle is highly desirable. Full software development life cycle experience is critical.
