1. Download AboutBuster here. Run it and let it perform its fixes.

2. Read the following article for another possible solution to the "about:blank" problem:

http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread7507.html

3. Have HijackThis fix the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SearchBar.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system\wrcbd.dll/sp.html#37049
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.coolsearch.biz/
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system\wrcbd.dll/sp.html#37049

4.
- Reboot into safe mode and, for every user account listed under C:\Documents and Settings, delete the entire contents of these folders:

1. Local Settings\Temp
2. Cookies
3. History
4. Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

- Delete the entire content of your C:\Windows\Temp folder.

If you get any messages concerning the deletion of system files such as desktop.ini or index.dat, just choose to delete those files; they'll be automatically regenerated by Windows if needed.

- Open Windows Explorer, and in the Folder Options->View settings under the Tools menu, select "show hidden files and folders", and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". Once done, search for and delete all of the .exe, .htm, and .html files in the HJT entries I listed above.

- Empty your Recycle Bin.
- Reboot normally.

5. This indicates that part of your network stack has been corrupted:

O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'osmim.dll' missing
Follow the instructions in this thread to restore your TCP/IP stack:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Oper..._20786932.html

6. Run HJT again and post a fresh log.

Did you just paste the whole log in there Dave? .

Download the PeperFix.exe tool from here:

http://downloads.subratam.org/PeperFix.exe

Click on the PeperFix.exe to launch it.

Click the Find and Fix button.

It will scan the %Systemroot% folder and locate all the peper files. You will be prompted to reboot. Reboot and it will delete the peper files.
Ensure that you are online before starting the fix. Make sure to run the fix twice.

Go here to TrendMicro for an on-line scan & set it to autoclean for you.

Try this scan at Panda as well.

Can you please download this file from here:

Getservice.zip

Extract the file to the c:\ drive. Then navigate to the c:\getservices and double-click on the getservices.bat file. A notepad will open up. Please paste the contents of that notepad into this post.

Reboot & rescan with hijackthis & post that log here. Do not skip any steps or you will be back to square one!

Do these three things:

1. Have HJT fix these entries:
F1 - win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SERVICES\MSXMIDI.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [xpsystem] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SERVICES\MSXMIDI.EXE

2. Open your win.ini file with Notepad, locate the line that reads "run=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SERVICES\MSXMIDI.EXE". If that line exists, delete everything to the right of the = sign, and then save the file.

3. Check the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SERVICES folder once more just to make sure MSXMIDI.EXE was definitely deleted. If it wasn't, kill it now.

O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'osmim.dll' missing -> regarding this wat does it mean anyways?
LSP = Layered Service Provider. Very basically, this is a Microsoft networking software component which is an extention/addition to the core TCP/IP software (TCP/IP stack). The word "layered" refers to the fact that many different individual networking components can be layered/stacked/chained together such that they act as a single "pipeline" for network communication. Unfortunately, malicious programs can insert themselves into this chain to alter that communication; think of it as a parasitic biological organism grafting itself into the ladder structure of DNA.
When the offending program is removed, it leaves a broken link in the chain, which should be repaired; one of these two programs might do the trick:

My mistake regarding the getservice file.
Check in add remove programs for Marketscore & uninstall it if found.
Download LSPfix from here
On the opening screen, click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox. Check all instances of "osmim.dll" (and nothing else), and move them to the "Remove" pane. Then click Finish.

Do a search for osmim.dll & delete it manually.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [29L3H4D4@D4CB#] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\PceK.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Dpi] C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\DPI\DPI.EXE

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\PceK.exe-file

C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\DPI-folder

Reboot normally.
