Is there any way to restore an iPod on Ubuntu Linux?

ANY way possible?

Toshiba M115 ● 1.49 GB DDR-2 RAM ● 1.6 GHz Centrino Duo ● 80GB HDD ● Windows XP Media Center Edition

I borrowed my brother's Windows laptop to restore it. Then I jailbroke again and soft upgraded to firmware 1.1.3. Now, whenever I try to mount, I get the following error:

Anyone know a solution?

Even when I restore back to 1.1.1, this error is still there. It sets the Firewire GUID and says read: Connection reset by peer
Anyone help?
