Toshiba m35x-s149 stuck in startup loop

Hi, I have a Toshiba m35x-s149 stuck in startup loop. It tries to startup and shows bios info then breifly goes to Windows XP screen then back to bios screen. I tried to use the recovery disk but it gets some kind of disk error. I tried to reformat using the xp disc and and after following all of Microsofts instructions and pushing "L" to verify, it said the the partition could not be formatted. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help
