A couple of possible clues into what the problem might be:
It could be a song with a bad character in the file name or ID3 tags that causes it to crash. UTF8 is "unicode", which is a text encoding. Got any files with non-english characters in them?
It could be that the iTunes Music Library XML file is corrupt. This can be found in ~/Music/iTunes/. Try moving it to your Desktop and starting iTunes and seeing if it'll re-create the XML library and play your music.
