Job Description:

We are looking for a result-oriented, proactive, and creative individual to be part of our strong software engineering team. This individual will play an active role in all aspects of front end development, from functional walkthroughs, technical designs, and implementations to release. Requires 4+ years of web development/programming experience, using hand-coded JavaScript, XHTML, tableless CSS, JSP, and XSL/XSLT. We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge and skills to code for cross-browser compatibility are essential.

Core Responsibilities:

- Design and document front-end projects of various scope
- Build and maintain the presentation layer of Hotwire’s site.
- Participate in code reviews of other developers' work
- Provide technical assistance to engineers, designers, managers as required
- May need to interface with 3rd parties on technical designs and issues
- Present technical issues and their business impact to management
- Work closely with various business teams, coordinating projects, and communicating technical issues using non-technical language.

Requirements:
- Expert-level JavaScript and DOM API (Object oriented experience preferred)
- Expert-level tableless CSS layouts
- Hand-coded standards-compliant XHTML
- JSP and familiarity with various tag libraries
- XSL/XSLT
- Java skills including using APIs (familiarity with fundamental classes: util, date, string, etc.)
- Expert-level knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform compatibility and design constraints
- Familiarity with the following is a strong plus: Ajax, JSON, Struts (including Tiles) development, PERL or some other scripting language, some Content Management system, section 508 compliance
- Image editing skills with Photoshop and other standard tools is a plus, but not required
- Ability to write clean, coherent, well-documented code and to follow established coding style guidelines
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven ability to communicate complex ideas and to design and document projects in a clear, concise way
