What is your audio device on the system, i mean is it external card or integrated on the mother board itself?

Also stick in your specifications for your system as well to make it a bit more easy for us to locate the cause of your problem.

Go to start->control panel->sounds/audio devices->audio->default, to see if you have the right device enabled. If you think you got it bad try keeping track of 4 devices (onboard, wireless headset/mic, HD vid card, and external card to my amplifier). Any way to enable more than 1 at a time (headset and onboard)? Mav.
If you feel like beating the kids, try internet gaming
ASUS P5E3 Deluxe-WiFi, Intel E6850, 4Gb OCZ Reaper DDR3 (2x2Gb), 2 ATI Radeon HD 3870s in XFire (passive chilled), 750w-HP Zalman, 74Gb WD Raptor, 250Gb Hitachi Deskstar, 750Gb Samsung Spinpoint, Asus Silent Square, packed in a purdy black box (Antec 900); Running XP Pro x64.
