Hi, recently hwguru changed hands yet again, due to its second owner essentially giving up on it (again)
So i made him a meager offer for it which he agreed to.
The work in progress page is here: http://www.hwguru.com/review-site.php

In short, its a hardware review site. This will be my third review site.

It was originally done in ASP, and my dislike for Active SATAN pages lead me to develop a whole new PHP/MySQL site with new layout too (matches the forums)
The layout is tested working on IE and Gecko browsers (Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape) If you use these browsers or anything different please post any errors or whatever you encounter.

Also ideas are much appreciated. Any groovy features i should put on it.
Essential features that are missing ?.. you name it im open to ideas as its still being developed.

Note: im not for editing the template, thats just a pain, (its already the 6th one) and some of the pages content may not work as im actively developing it every day. (that and 3 other sites atm...)

Slate me, hate me, be harsh if you like, but just be honest. Thanks !

The template (graphics and html) took around 4 hours. plus a few 20 minute jobs to tweak and adjust it. like i said, did that 6 times. So a total of 6 hours for the graphics and html template.
We already have a matching forum (same black/green theme as the main site)
But we are open to affiliation with similar sites, such as this one and other review sites for hardware and software.
Oh, and used photoshop for the imagery (always use that in windows and GIMP in linux) and Crimson Editor for the html/php(+mysql)/js work in windows, Quanta plus(Best piece of software known to mankind) in linux.

cool sounds like a lot of work did the imagery or the coding take the longest?
do you know where someone can learn to build php templates like the one you have (if you know a site with free tutorial videos that would be awesome).

So anyways your site has a simple yet complex design meaning there is no flash or other junk to take you away from the content but it still has a stylish design.

Not much work really. The longest thing would be the coding cos i havent actually finished yet. but really id have to say hour to hour its the graphics, just takes time really. The coding is easy, its just typing it all really.

You could check out phpbuilder.com they do a pretty good site with tutorials and a code library. Although some of the tutorials can ramble on and many are not worded very well, its a good place to start and has a bunch of links for you to check through.

Thanks for the nice words about the site by the way. Its no-where near done yet and wont be for another week or so at least as im currently working on another project, a couple of mods and my business too, so im a tad busy.
