If by virtual communities you mean social networking website such as Myspace etc then yes they present good opportunities to promote your website as they have a large customer base.

Online communities have many benefits ... they're interactive websites which means that visitors can have a different experience every time they come back, there's frequently updated content (which search engines love), and as your memberbase grows, traffic becomes viral as members return often.

Yes..virtual communities have their own best benifits...
But frequent Updation is needed...Then u will get more members ,more traffic...But mind hardwork and patiency are which we should have too.......
