Hi I need some HELP!!!

i've been having this really IRRITABLE problem with any web broswer. Bascially I have the GoogleToolbar on IE and well whenever i type an address for example www.hotmail.com the Google homepage loads but the address bar says www.hotmail.com

Also if i do a search with Yahoo or Google it says 404 Not Found and the message says "The requested URL was not found on this server" I know these pages work as when i try it on another machine it loads.

I have downloaded several SpyWare programs have installed Norton 2004, Trojan detectors but NOTHING!!! Problem is still there!

You are running hijackthis from your desktop, in order for it to safely save backups, it needs to be in a permanent folder (like c:\hjt\hijackthis.exe).

Hi, thanks for that. I have a strong feeling it has something to do with Google. Because i just downloaded Mozilla Firefox and well it has a built in Google search bar and i was trying to goto www.myseries60.net and well it the Google homepage loads up :evil:

Do you use a proxy server?

Yes i am using a Proxy... It seems you may know the answer to my problem

I feel it could be the proxy too... When i tried using FireFox Mozilla, it has a built in Toolbar i cannot goto any websites only Google.com... Example if i type www.daniweb.com the address bar will have www.daniweb.com but the page which loads is the Google Homepage

Well firstly check your proxy settings are correct in the log. The reason I asked the qestion was because if you weren't using one that could have been the source of your problems.
After that, there don't seem to be the usual IE homepage entries in your log. Which is strange. And I have no idea why. Do you use IE regularly?

Yes i use IE everyday and have been using it for a loooonggg time.. I am not sure of all the proxy settings which need to be set as this is like the first time i've bin using a proxy. Do you know where i need to check if the settings are all correct?
