Greetings,
You’re receiving (or viewing, if you are cruising job sites) this resume because somewhere, somehow, one of us got the impression that you may have a position that I could fill for you. If, after reading both this cover note and my work history, you still think I might provide value to your company, please contact me by email to discuss the opportunity.
The reason I have made this resume available is that I am seeking part-time web development work that can be performed remotely evenings and weekends (EST). Occasional on-site meetings are possible if between Uptown Charlotte, NC and Rock Hill, SC.
I have been developing web-based solutions since 1995 and still find seeing my work rendered in someone’s browser a gratifying experience. While my day job entails a much broader set of skills, the satisfaction I find in developing with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSP and PHP is great enough where I can work after hours and maintain a high level of quality.
Regardless of my role on a given project I always drive forward with the strong belief that the most important part of any software system is the user. I think that the requirements should be driven by how the user will interact with the data (as opposed to what is easier or cooler for the IT department to do with the data) and that the project is only complete when the user is satisfied. This approach is now termed as “user-centric”. Before it had its own buzzword I used to call it “building something useful that can and will be used”. I also believe in adding value to any company I work for beyond the job description.
Sincerely,
Scott Nelson
