Dell optiplex gx1/ won't reconize CD-RW

anyone have any idea why a Dell optiplex gx1 600MHz[model year 1999] won't reconise a 48x LG burner,no matter what way I configure it .CD-RW works in other computer .thanks

Actually the CD-RW will not work in other computer either ,I got it to burn 25megs using a older version of CloneCD.but usually its not recocinized as a burner,when it is i get a Power Calabraition Error .CloneCd would not erase a reritabled disk .I took it apart and cleaned the lense with a Q-Tip ,no solution of any kind .I quess its dying !!
