Software Manager

Department: Information Technology

Summary: Responsible for providing leadership for Software team members, including assisting with the definition of team goals, oversight of tasks, as well as monitoring and guidance for multiple simultaneous projects from inception to implementation

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and oversight for projects and tasks of developers in order to meet user requirements and resolve problems; strive to maximize team and departmental performance
• Works cooperatively with other departments/groups to solve issues and improve overall workflow.
• Primarily responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of production software and/or systems, as well as the development of new systems. This includes bug fixing, upgrades, enhancements and integration into the production pipeline
• Communicates with team members, end-users, and end-user groups to determine technical requirements and disseminate information regarding project status
• Acts as a liaison between outside vendors and the department for purposes of coordination of maintenance and bug fixing

Education, Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline required. Advanced degree preferred
• 5-7 years demonstrated experience in software or systems development for computer graphics, including one or more of the following areas: Animation Systems, Modeling Tools, Compositing Systems, Renderers and Shaders, Distributed Processing Systems
• Significant experience and working knowledge of software development using C. Scripting experience desired, preferably in Python
• Experience using, and/or developing software under, one or more of the following operating systems: Linux, MS Windows
• Maya experience preferred, with experience in MEL scripting and Maya plugins
• Must be able to work well with a wide range of personality types. Ability to work in all levels of the organization
• Must be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Demonstrated ability to use logic to problem-solve. Willingness to take initiative and resolve problems
• Experience supporting End Users is required. Must be customer service orientated
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail and quality control
• Ability to work well with team members and provide guidance and leadership within a fast paced, dynamic, deadline orientated environment
