Help no sound when clicking any link

previously my computer with windows xp was performing a sound when i was selecting anything on the screen but now it does not. It does not make any sound even when a new message arrive to msn

To you have sound workin from music cd or any other sound .
maybe the mute button is check in sound settings ,the icon is usually down by the clock or go to control panel /sounds and make sure its not muted ,or make sure the use of sounds hasn't been remove there also .

thanks, the sound program was blocked by the firewall, so i turned it on again.
th esouns iis ok now
