dxsetu.exe error

0
  #1
Nov 6th, 2004
On the start up of my p.c, i'm getting an error dxsetu.exe.

It then goes on about a load of aplication errors.

Has this got something to do with direct x ?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Atky

sounds like a virus to me - it should be dxsetup.
Can you post a hijackthis log? see link hopefully now in my sig.
Download to a permenant folder, run it, choose scan, save log, and paste the contents of the file in here. Do not fix anything yet as most of it is legitimate - it's a snapshot of your running processes.

That is a virus. Find and delete it. Good idea to also post a hijackthis log though.

Update HijackThis to version 1.98.2 while you are waiting to hear back from Crunchie or one of the other experts on what to fix.

First of all could you click Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and uninstall 'Window Search', 'Window Searching', 'Lop.com', 'LOP SEARCH', 'Browser Enhancer', or 'Ultimate Browser Enhancer' if listed. You may be given a code to insert, do so and reboot when done. If not listed there, run this uninstaller:
http://members.rogers.com/rjmac/new_uninstall.exe

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the "Fix checked" button.

I also have recently received the DXSETU.EXE error. I also have OPE9.EXE running on my computer which wasnt on before and a problem with winsock.scr. The CMD.EXE also seems to be running at 100 CPU. Will try all this tonight and post tomorrow - hopefully somebody can help me get rid of this as it is really annoying and seems to make my compute die.

Thanks,

James

Hi Charlesworth82 You will probably want to start your own thread describing your problem and possibly posting a hijackthis log to be reviewed. They ask that you not tag on to other member's posts, no matter how similar the problem is. It takes away from the original poster's question, and also causes confusion.
