Mac newbie, network connections help

I have a G4 dual 500's.
I don't have a clue how to setup the network to see my linksys router.
I figured the X OS was smart enough to connect to to the internet, and my network. It says my eithernet card is connected. Help a rookie. Please.

You should be able to just connect it via DHCP. How have you been setting your PCs up in the past?

It does now connect to the internet, I cannot however see it on my LAN.
