Hi guys.

As usual, I've been away from home, and my dear siblings have tampered with my computer yet again *sigh*

We have two computers at home, and mine (Vaio) cannot connect to the internet. It doesn't seem to be able to connect to the network as well, but I don't know how to find out for sure. The other computer (HP) has no problem connecting to the internet, and it doesn't seem to detect Vaio on the network.

Could you advise me on what to run to find out what's wrong and maybe how to fix it?

Is the Vaio running Vista or XP? Whichever it is, there is a network connection icon on the bottom right of the task bar (close to where the digital clock is). Right click it, and it will give you an option to search for available networks. Do this and see if you find and can connect to your network

I'm assuming you've got a router and both computers connect wirelessly?

Also, try connecting the Vaio with a cable (if it is currently trying to connect wirelessly). And check that the wireless switch is in the "ON" position (that one always gets my clients!)

Both computers are connected by the cable to the modem actually, wireless is disabled since we don't have a router

= still running scan, but I'm probably running an outdated version since I couldn't update the program directly from the internet

• ESET Online Scanner log
= can't run since cannot connect to internet

• BOTH Logs from Deckard's System Scanner (main.txt and extra.txt)
= couldn't download DSS from the links given, but I ran HJT

• Uninstall List
= I did uninstalling yesterday, and couldn't remember them, sorry.

Hi. I"m not very good at networking either, so I'm not sure how to reset a new LAN connection.

Hi, please go to Control Panel and open Network Connections.

• Click on File and then click New Connection and click Next.
• In the next prompt, select, Set up a home or small office network and click Next.
• Click Finish
• A new window will open, click Next two times.
• In the next screen, click Local Area Connection and click Next.
• Select Other and click Next.
• Select the first option and click Next.
• Follow the prompts, they are all set by default and click Next.
• Enable file and printer sharing and click next two times.
  The wizard will now configure the system and make you visible on the network.
• In the last prompt, choose the last option to exit the wizard.
• Click Finish.

When asked, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

This is just a step by step guide for establishing a LAN connection, I cannot guarantee that it will fix your problem, as I have limited knowledge about networking.
If it doesn't work, then your patience is greatly appreciated.
