Driver problems dvd and cd burners

I have 2 computers and both the CD and DVD burners were working fine, but now when I go to "My Computer" they're missing from both computers. (I have WinXP Home Edition) I read that this could have been caused from itunes which I had on both computers. I've uninstalled and tried to reinstall the drivers, but I get the following error:

"windows cannot load the device driver for the hardware. the driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)"

I've tried the manufacturer's site to download the drivers, but I can't do that either...it tells me that I don't have the hardware to install the drivers??? Also, I removed 2 registry keys that someone suggested, but that still didn't help the situation. Please someone help!!!!

Thanks!

That would be great if I could do that, but it won't read the CD, since I can't install the driver......
