I have been using the internet just fine on my laptop, until today - I do not have a wireless card so I am directly plugging into the router with a LAN connection. The desktop computer that is upstairs (also plugged into the router) has no problem connecting to the internet. When I try to refresh the internet connection all I get is Acquiring network address.

I have run ipconfig and tried to release and renew my ip address

When i do ipconfig/release it says ---- Windows IP configuration
IP Address for adapter Local Area Connection has already been released.

so then I tried ipconfig/renew it says ---- Windos IP Configuration
An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : Access is denied.

I have read several websites and I am at a loss at what to do next. I also have run into this same problem with my desktop downstairs. So the only working internet is on the computer upstairs and all are plugged into the same network. Thank you and please help!!
