"Are you behind a proxy server (i.e. at work or school?) Do you have a firewall installed?"
I have a proxy for Internet Explorer 6.0 and I'm using zonealarm,hackerproof.
For example, for one website,I tried searching with the normal address from google but a page came saying that possibly my proxy couldn't
cache their dns properly so plz redirect my browser to index.php,I did,got the same error.
I'm having this problem randomly but annoyingly.Somedays ago It was with only
microsoft sites now it's with random sites...i'm paranoid.
then there's this .org site that I can't get to anyway always it's showing the xp loading image stopped right in the middle. So,after about 3 minutes the browser then redirects to autosearch.msn.com for some reason though the add is right.

It's also possible that your Security setting have been dinked with.
Finally, you can also download the Sun Java Engine. The Microsoft Java Virtual Machine is crappy and broken by design. Download the runtime package for Java language support. Windows installation is mid-page (scroll down): http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
...and, like the Big B A, I must recommend Mozilla for general use: http://www.Mozilla.org. It's inherently much more secure and flexible than IE, which is an unfixable mess in its present form (By MS's own documented admission).
