Can't remove ColdFusion Trojan - Part 2

Hello everyone,

As some of the members of this forum, I'm having some problems with the backdoor.colfusion trojan. The computer is slow as hell (trojan effect?). I followed all the steps that some of you suggested, until the logfile from HJT. I already had deleted the dxsetu.exe file, but it always coming back in regedit when I reboot. As the dll files... norton can't solve this problem. Can yout tell me which lines and files I should delete/fix or other solution... because i'm out of ideas!

Should I format the drive... is it the better solution?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there. First of all you are running hijackthis from a temporary folder. The backups that hijackthis creates can be accidentally deleted when not in a permanent folder. Please do the following;

Click My Computer, then C:\
In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis". Now you have C:\HJT\ folder. Put your HijackThis.exe there, and double click to run it.

I had the same problem as you, and I had to format my HD. I couldn't find a way of getting rid of the trojan, in spite of the help I got here. It took me some time to backup all the stuff, but it also "forced" me to do some cleaning, which is good, if you have some time. If you do format, be careful and prepare yourself before you do so: you should install an updated antivirus, a firewall and have all the latest patches for Windows XP installed before you connect to the internet again. Or you might get infected again...
