Tell you what, go ahead and download the Java from HERE
Be sure to choose the Offline install and save it to the desktop. Once you have done that then go on and Uninstall all those old versions via Add/Remove.
You may be required to reboot.
Once they are gone then double click that Java install on the desktop and follow the prompts.
Again, you may have to reboot.
Once the install is complete then go back up to the link and on the Right Side of the page you will see Verify Now. Click there to verify the installation went correctly.
Then run another Full System Scan with HJT, save the log and post it here.

............. uninstall the programs, i have been doing it though control panel add remove program feature......
Absolutely the correct way to do it. If a program isn't listed there then you look for it's listing in Start, All Programs next, often times the Uninstall will be listed there. If not there then in the individual program file itself.
I see nothing bad in the HJT log. Since you were having trouble with freezes of the computer, and the amount of RAM is 512, which is probably part of your problem. If you increase the RAM to at least 1GB this could help. RAM is not expensive and an easy way to speed the computer. But since you say this is a fairly recent problem I would recommend disabling some of those unnecessary start up items, which then means the program runs all the time in the background and uses a lot of resources. You do have a lot of these programs starting up which can very easily be run manually when needed. If you like I can give you a list of what can be turned off and also links to a couple of free, easy to use programs which make it easy to control the start ups.
One question, do you or any member of your family use Microsoft's Input Message Editor (IME) for translating Japanese/Chinese text in IE, Outlook and Word? And why are you only using a 640x480 resolution?

Brad
Just wanted to check for sure if you needed the translator. Since he uses it for school we will leave it alone.
To disable autostarts there are two programs which are excellent. One is Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel
Very simple and easy to use. Another one I like is CodeStuff Starter Also very easy to use but give you more detail concerning the programs and processes which may be connected. It also shows you running processes, much like the Task Manager, but CodeStuff also tells you the processes associated with the items running.
With both programs all you have to do is REMOVE the check marks next to the items running and reboot the computer. Next time it boots those items you have taken the checkmarks from will not automatically start up. But you can run any or all of them manually when needed.
Here is your list and an explanation of each;
Reminder...HP-specific program that reminds users to create System Recovery CDs, if you do create these this will automatically stop running. This is something you should do really. There should be instructions which came with the computer. You would need these if something happens and you have to format the computer.
HP Software Update
TkBellExe...Real Player update reminder
ISUSPM Startup...InstallShield Update Service Scheduler. Automatically searches for and performs any updates to the software so you’re always working with the most current version
ISUSScheduler...InstallShield Update Service Scheduler. Automatically searches for and performs any updates to the software so you’re always working with the most current version.
Sony Ericsson PC Suite...The Sony Ericsson PC Suite for the Sony Ericsson P910 phone. This program can be used to synchronize your data between your PC and phone. You can start this program as necessary.
QuickTime Task...System Tray access to Apple's "Quick Time" viewer from version 5 onwards
EverioService...Related to JVC Everio camcorders. Not sure about this one. You can try turning it off and see if there is a problem with it. If there is just go back in and re-enable it with the program you used to turn it off.
SunJavaUpdateSched...sun java update reminder. Do it manually. As you can see, it doesn't do a very good job.
swg...Added by the Google ToolBar for Internet Explorer. This program will notify you when you attempt to change the Internet Explorer search engine to someyhing other than google.
updateMgr...Installed with Adobe products to check for updates and prompt you to install them
Adobe Reader Speed Launch...supposedly speeds up the opening of the Adobe Reader, increase is barely noticeable if at all.

Think about installing more RAM for sure if possible, like I said it is fairly inexpensive and very easy to install, if this is a tower.

my son runs all of his games and videos etc in 640x480 because if it is any higher than that it will most definetly crash and freeze up in the first few miniutes.
You might try and see if your video or display driver needs updating. Right Click My Computer. Choose Properties. When System Properties opens then choose Hardware, Device Manager. Once there click on Display Adapters. Look and see the manufacture and model of your adapter. Double Click on it to see the driver versionThen go to the adapter manufacturers website to see if they have updated drivers for your adapter. This may make a difference.

You are correct, there are different types of RAM and it is very specific to each computer. Not sure where you are located Brad. If you are in the US you can go to Crucial.com. The website scans your computer and tells you how much you have, the maximum you can add and exactly what kind to purchase. I have purchased through them at least 5 times and they generally are cheaper than anywhere else. But if you wish to purchase where you are then, yes, I would advise you take the computer with you so that you can get the correct type. Takes about 2 minutes to install new RAM so many places will do it for you, OR if you order it you can do it yourself.
Now of course this is with a desktop computer, not certain how hard it is to install on a laptop but I think it can be done also without too much difficulty.
