A little problem

Hey guys.I am not sure that what I want to do is possible but if it is can someone help me out... Well I want towrite a program which waits for input for a curtain amount of time and if no input is received it continues its execution.I will be really greatful if someone helps me out here.

I am currently working under Windows XP and I am using dev-c++.The application is console.If you need me to tell you anything else so you can help me please ask me I will answer swiftly.
