Hi everyone new to this, so please bear with me.

Who programs the bios chips ??

What language do they use ??

Can anyone with the right knowledge write a program or does it have to come from the manufacturer ??

Thats a start, thanx in advance

ok a: Bios chips are programmed by the chip makers, then customised by the mobo makers

b: Its done in hex/assembly lng

c: yes some people make their own software for it, however is done by flashing the chip to store then info. to the CMOS

Generally a specialised area, ie, the motherboard manufacturer writes the BIOS for the motherboard. But, the BIOS calls should all be available, so you can write kernel-level modules/functions that interact with the BIOS.

you'll find some sites that have comunities on 3rd party bios flashes, they seem to make bios updates for old boards, they also sometimes fix problems with some bios's before the manufacturers which is quite amusing, and yea, there's some people if you ask nicely will make a custom bios for you... i have never used any of these becuase i just dont trust them, however i know people who have used them and havn't complained, but the general rule with cmos chips is, if they arn't broken for heavens sake don't fiddle with it or your local pc doctor will shoot you.
