ok here we go again.........i turned off tea time in spybot, restarted computer, then ran Avg....

Avg didnt pick up anything but a few tracking cookies which i got rid of, but it sent three of the cookies to the virus vault where all the trojans and some kenny went yester as i wrote in post 3, did you want to see what cookies went in there today or are they harmless? anyhow the rest of the tests....................

I "think" it got it. Sure looks like it anyway. This is what I was hoping for anyway.
You need to set a new and clean System Restore point.
To do this Right Click My Computer. Choose Properties. When System Properties opens click on the System Restore tab. When that opens place a check mark in Turn Off System Restore. Click Ok. You will probably get a box telling you this will turn off System Restore and are you certain you want to do this, click yes or ok. System Restore will then shut down. Wait a moment and go back in and take the check mark out. This will turn it back on.
I also would recommend that you add the FREE program SpywareBlaster by Javacoolsoftware Really a MUST have program, highly recommended on most anti-malware sites today. To quote from their website;

* Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted software.
* Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
* Restrict the actions of potentially unwanted sites in Internet Explorer.

And unlike other programs, SpywareBlaster does not have to remain running in the background.
Try it for a couple weeks, enable everything in the program. Scan with Spybot & Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and chances are they will find NOTHING! Really adds an extra layer of protection to the computer.

hi judy, thank you very, very much for all your help and advice you have given me, fingered crossed it has gone, but will run the programs dailey and the new one you suggested and just keep a look out over the next few days for anything odd again. sorry just a few quick questions, should i turn the tea time thing back on in spybots again? in avg all the stuff in virus vault get deleted after 30 days, should that be safe? thanks very much again for your help, regards jazz

Leave TeaTimer off. Personally I think it is more trouble than it is worth and with SpywareBlaster on there things won't be able to get on the computer in the first place really.
As for as the stuff in the AVG vault you probably can go ahead and get rid of it now. We know for sure that these were the viruses and not key files. Leaving them there is fine too if you wish, they aren't hurting anything because they are locked up and can't re-infect the computer.
Just be sure to keep all your security programs updated often.

Hi Judy, well i have done checks over the last few days and every thing seems alright, not even any cookies have came up today. I emptied the virus vault and all seems to be fine there too, tho my computer is running very slow, it that because of all the anti-virus programs? and that its very old, low ram, small hardrive etc, pc? Anyhow thanks again for all your help and advice, regards jazz

How large is your hard drive and how full is it? How much RAM do you have installed?
Give me two things, another HiJackThis scan and also generate a Start Up log with HiJackThis and post both here, I can take a look and see if there are things we can pare down from that and hopefully speed things up a bit.
