Ok, i got a message from daniweb just as i was getting bored, so i decided to come check it out again

-----------------------
<--- SYNOPSIS --->
-----------------------

I know that many times in my own job i get complaints about slow running pc's and viruses and spyware and everything else.... i just wanted to make a statement, for everyone to see!

Just because your pc is running slow, does NOT mean it has a virus, many times, yes, this is the answer, but if you have worked in the it field for a while, you would know that any pc, as it gets older, becomes slower, this is due to a number of things, which i will point out only a few...

-----------------------
<--- EXAMPLES --->
-----------------------

it can be caused by a large number of programs running, even a lot of ram wont nescesarily fix that problem.

Your drive can be going bad, as a hard drive slowly fails, it attempts to fix itself, to work around errors, enevitably slowing the pc down...

hard drive fragmentation, most companies recommend not letting your hard drive get over 90% full, as it will start fragmenting like you wouldnt believe, myself, i reccomend 75-80%.

Too many startup programs, slows down system start speed...

Incorrect registry structure, or incorrect registry keys, these are a BIG part of the system speed.

too many temporary files... temporary files take a lot of disk space and make it harder for programs to find what they need in the temporary files list

Visual effect in windows, these use ram... so if a pc is running slow then this might help to speed it up

----------------
<--- OUT --->
----------------

I think that about does my quick list of problems... I would like to say that if you go around deleting temporary files, your pc will most likely not like you anymore, it can cause some programs to stop functioning all togeather, for instance, google chrome installs to the temp folder, i dont know why..

But i might be here a lot more people, and this is the sort of thing i would like to do in my free time!
Do you geek alone?
