Just use "Export" in the Outlook file menu and export as a .pst file.

you can also select individual folders and create a password for your backup

I am using VCard4Outlook http://vcard4outlook.4team.biz/?pcode=608310193bh66vm
It imports/exports hundreds of contacts at a time within few clicks. Does it very well by the way.
