I have recoded my mortgage refinance site with valid xhtml and css. Designing with-out tables can be a challenge but the design is much more accessible and easier to update.

By controlling typography and presentation with CSS, I was able to cut the site bloat by 50%. The site was 4 megs (about 200 pages) and is now right at 2 megs.

Any feedback or optimization tips would be greatly welcomed.

I looked at your site and it seems to have very good information on it. I referred someone to check something out on it even. Overall, I think it looks okay for all the information you have on it.

the first thing i noticed about your site is that your photo is stretched out horizontally. do you use a program to generate the html? why even define the width and height of the image?

Have you considered using Google Adsense or affiliate programs to make money from the site. An example of this is http://www.ukmortgagesadvice.info

nice advert bbanoon..

Erm the site looks ok, however imo you have too much scrolling, this should be removed substancially if not completely.

you should not be obcessed by making it too small, however when you did the images did you optimise them?
