Help!!!! open source SMS Shopping Project

HI everybody, i'm a final year student, doing an SMS shopping system, and i intend to make it as open source so that everyone can benifit from that.
the system should allow the users to buy products from a vendor, by sending sms,
currently i am working on php, but i have some problmes regarding connecting to the sms gateway, any help is highly appreciated,
