Problems with resolution/svga when installing an old game

When trying to install Where in the U.S.A is Carmen Sandiego I am getting the error message-

The program requires SVGA, set to a minimum of 640x480 resolution and 256 colors.

The setting on my screen resolution is set at 800x600 pixels and color quality is set at 32 bits.

I am unsure how to fix the problem, can someone give some advice? Keep in mind that computer literacy is not a strong point! Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

I was having problems with older games not working and I started this thread:

I hope it helps you...I'm not even sure if it's addressing the same issue, but what the hell! hehe

Good luck.
