computer restarts automatically when i disconnect from the internet.

When she disconnects from the internet, the computer automatically restarts itself, any suggestions would be greatful thank you

Connection:
Dialup 56k pci motorola internal modem

OS:
XP Pro (SP2)

Sounds like a virus/adware issue. Scan for both and see if that resolves the issue. If you need antivirus, you can use Avast. If you need spyware removal, use malwarebytes antimalware. Both apps are free.

I appoligise for the late replies from me, I convinced her to get a wireless connection and ditch that dreaded dial up, problem solved(sort of), I'm sure it is still there just not in use, I think it was the 56k internal modem. thank you all for your rapid response
