How to install software on acer aspire?

Hey all
Today I bought a acer aspire one. Its great but I don't know how to install software on it, i found this site and many like it http://www.laptopmag.com/advice/how-...one-apps.aspx?
but where it tells me to enter the command
the terminal comes back with
I have googled the problem but no answers have appeared yet.
Does anyone know what I have to do to get this to work?

Does anyone know what I have to do to get this to work?
