Used windows XP recovery disk

Hello out there, I just now used my recovery disk. I know there have been updates since I first got XP back in 2001. A friend downloaded a windows update service pac after recovery and lost sound. Is there anything I should know before looking for updates? Thanks, John :rolleyes:

Not really, you should update before anything else. Only because there were 1000's of bugs it seems since xp released. lol.
Also install ad-aware, spybot, firefox, spyware blaster, spyware gaurd, a firewall and a good AV. Also i recommend CCleaner(crapcleaner).
