Linux Security Suggestions - Setting Up My Own Unmanaged Dedicated Server
![]() |
Hi!
I know there are a couple of good books and so, but I'm looking for YOUR experience, tips and suggestions on such an important subject - Linux Server Security.
The fact is that I've just order my first dedicated server. It's unmanaged and only comes with Debian 4.0 / LAMP and Webmin.
So, at the time they finish the setup I want to be aware of everything I should install on it to provide maximum security and I must say, my sites are too much popular (that's the main reason why I had to order a dedicated server and move away from VPS).
...and no, I'm not making huge amounts of money from my sites, it's basically free services with none or very few advertising that's why I'm asking you for your help.
Can you please give your opinions about what software to install and tips. It would be highly appreciated, so, thank you all in advance!
