Hi all;

I'll be grateful to you if you answer the questions below :

1-) Multiplexing is a mechanism to share a system (link) resource.
Define, explain "time-division multiplexing" and "statistical
multiplexing".

2-) Explain spread spectrum tecniques in a wireless (802.11) system.
How do you implement collision avoidence in such a system.

3-) How QoS is implemented in cell switching (ATM)? Please give ATM
cell format and explain the functions of VPI and VCI.

4-) What is wraparound in TCP? What is done to avoid it?

5-) Shortly explain IntServ(RSVP) and DiffServ.

6-) Effective resource allocation is explained by the use of
Power=Throughput/Delay graph. Draw this graph and explain what happens
as the load increases.

Thanks...

In a rush now, but Time Div Multiplexing is when a switch is moved between different input sources on set time slices, so that each source gets a limited time to input onto a wire. Obviously this works in opposite way!
Just imagine many cables going onto one cable and then back onto many again.

Statistical multiplexing is a form of dynamic multiplexing. Dynamic multiplexing doesn't divide the resource up into fixed, pre-determined pieces, such as time-slices or frequency ranges. Instead, dynamic multiplexing allows the piece of the resource given to a particular user to vary, according to the user's individual needs, and the needs of other users.
Statistical multiplexing, a.k.a. broadcasting, is an optimistic approach to dynamic multiplexing. It simply works by allowing any user to use the channel any time it wants. Under this system users with more demanding needs will want the channel more often and, as a consequence, will get it more often.
