need help switching for me to xp

well when i tried to change the operating system from me to xp
my power shut off so i turned it back on and i tried again and it says it cant cause windows/system32/ is corrupt or missing ????

tell us a little more info ,like how you switched from ME to xp ,upgrade or format and complete xp install
