I have a Zyxel X-550 wireless router. I recently did something to it (I'm a lil ignorant on the subject) to increase it's performance. I have a laptop and two desktops that are working fine wirelessly.
One laptop is having a problem. It has a network adapter card made by Netgear (WG511T). My router is set up with a WEP security and has a 26 digit code.
When I se tu the laptop and enter all the security info, it connects right away and shows a speed of 108 MBPS. Signal is great (5 bars) out by the router, when I move to the bedroom it's 3 bars.
It stays connected for awhile then it goes away. It doesn't automatically re-connect. When I look at the "properties" for that wireless connection, it appears the network key changes back to a 8 digit entry. When I insert the 26 digit WEP network key, it connects but if I look back at properties, it shows an 8 digit key where is was 26 digits seconds before. In a few minutes the internet will disconnect and not reconnect.
I'm stumped
