Unable To Send E-mails

Hi,

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend who has experienced this.

O/S is Windows ME, TrendMicro Internet Security is unable to detect the virus. You can surf the web and receive e-mails yet unable to send e-mails. Something is blocking the server or proxy which has never happened before.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

What email program are they using (Hotmail, Outlook, Yahoo, ...)?

Is there any message that comes up when they try to send an email?

If so, what does it say?

Has the computer been scanned recently for adware and spyware (not just antivirus)?
