Windows XP pro stalls on start up, XP logo faded out

I sometimes have this problem when I boot up my XP pro computer. It will go through post when booting up, but then it locked up right when XP is loading. It always stalls on the Windows XP logo and the logo is faded. The only way I can get Windows to start again, I would have to clear the cmos.

I don't know what's the problem and it's driving me crazy. Help!

Pentium 4 2.4C retail
Abit IS7, with the latest Bios
2x Corsir Platium 3200 DDR
Nividia FX5600 ultra AGP
Maxtor 120 SATA

If you have a USB scanner, disconnect it and restart. If your computer boots normal again just update the driver. Another solution may be to clean out your windows/prefetch folder.
