Folks,
For a few weeks, my computer (XP Home Edition) tried and failed every day to download/install updates upon shut down.
So I decided to download the updates myself by visiting Microsoft Updates.
Upon doing so, I got a response telling me that I need IE 5 or later to use the update site. That's probably why the updates weren't downloading as expected. Trouble is, the version running at the time was IE 6.x.
So, I downloaded and installed IE7 and thereafter succeeded in getting and installing the updates.
But the mis-identification has resurfaced. Once again I'm getting the message that I need a version of IE later than 5 at the time I'm running IE7.
Any ideas?
Thanks to one and all.
