within the last few months i have been getting emails containing nothing in them. the names are very strange(seems like words caused by randomly smashing on keyboard like this "alksdjrjieakdf") also there is no imformation given about the sender other than the name and date of the message. i asked my dad (dlh6213, aka BEST MOD EVER!!!)about this problem and he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. This is all very confussing
can some one please help me out?
oh and by the way...i made a jpg of this....here it is
sorry the pic is really bad quality, here what is says: the first thing at the top: dumb ad
; second thing almost in middle: this is only 2 of the messages ; third,in the middle: almost no imformation about sender ; forth, at bottom: email is completly empty

Rule 1: Mark stuff like that and delete it without even viewing it.
Rule 2: Stop worrying about what it is and where it comes from, because by the time you figure it out there'll be a new and different lot of junkmail cropping up to worry you sick.
Rule 3: Post your next tech question in the appropriate Tech section please, or I'll tell your Dad on you! Gives a bloke the shits to have tea break interrupted by work!!!!!!

The "dumb ad" at the top is courtesy of Hotmail; not much you can do about that as long as you use free email services.
Hotmail has already identified these emails as "Junk." Occasionally they may make a mistake and put something in the Junk folder that you want to keep, but if there is anything in that folder that isn't something you were expecting (even if you recognize the name), you should delete it, or check with the person and see if they actually did send you something.
The correct forum for this would have been the Software forum

We're not ganging up on you, we're just messing with you
About this statement:
"(dlh6213, aka BEST MOD EVER!!!)"
There are a lot of great moderators here at Daniweb, who the 'best' is would depend on the particular forum because they all have their specialties.
I wouldn't qualify for 'Best' in any of them, I just try to do what I can to help out wherever I can (without messing up too much
). But I do appreciate your confidence
.
Now to pick on you again; when are you going to clean up your signature

After discussing this with hammy some more, I decided I should include some detailed information in case someone else came across this thread with a similar issue/question. If anyone has any other reasons that I have forgotten (or don't know about), please feel free to post them.
Q: Why shouldn't you open an email from someone you don't know, especially if there's nothing in it?
A: First of all, you don't know whether or not there is anything in it until you open it. It may contain a virus that executes automatically as soon as the email is opened (it doesn't have to be an attachment as many believe).
Second, if there is nothing in it, the sender most likely had 'read receipt' attached to it (meaning as soon as you open it, the sender gets a message in their inbox letting them know it was opened). Now that they know the email has been opened, they know they have a valid email address and they can either send spam themselves or, more likely, sell it with a list of others email addresses to other spammers.
Q: Why shouldn't you open an email from someone you know if it's in your 'Junk' folder?
A: If it's in your 'Junk' folder, it has probably been identified as spam, which can happen for two reasons.
1.) Viruses are often spread by going into the users address list and sending out emails on it's own (replicating itself).
2.) If an email is forwarded many times, it can be identified as spam even though it is harmless.
The only way to know if it is safe to open, is to contact the sender and ask if they actually sent you an email on that date, at that time.
For a brief history of viruses, see this:

Many of them in 1999 and later relate to this thread
