Removing the 'arrows' from Shortcuts
1. Open 'regedit' [Start Menu -> Run -> regedit
2. Select HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT from the directory tree
3. Navigate to the lnkfile 'branch'. Select it.
4. On the right, delete the IsShortcut registry entry.
Note: You may have to restart or re-login for changes to take place.
Removing the 'Links' Category in IE Favorites, Permanently
1. Copy and paste the following code into a text editor (Notepad) and save as links.reg
2. Execute the registry file.
Increase Maximum IE Downloads to 10
1. Open 'regedit' [Start Menu -> Run -> regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings in the Nav. tree.
3. Go to Edit > New > Dword Value
4a. Name it to: MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server
4b. Right click it, select modify, Set Value Data to: 0000000a
5. Create a new Dword Value (Edit > New > Dword Value)
6a. Name it to: MaxConnectionsPerServer
6b. Right click it, select modify, Set Value Data to: 0000000a
7. Close Regedit, reboot computer.
That's all I can think of that I have on my computer right now. Will add more later.

Thanks! I especially like removing Links from my favorites ... silly me thought that *all* my favorites were links
