Longhorn
![]() |
Hi,
I was just wondering when anybody knew when the new O.S. from Microsoft:
Microsoft Windows Longhorn would be coming out and any information that anyone should know about it? Ohh and could you add :o where you can download it for free or get it from someone that you know and provide information on how to get it. That would be so awesome. Because I have been hearing so much about it and I want the straight facts about it. Because is it just new visual stuff or is it seriously a new operating system with new features.
Best Regards,

Hi ,I have a Bata copy and used it for a bit once when i had a spare drive to put it on ,looks a little different ,a lot of what is in SP2 is coming fro mLonghorn ,like the popup stopper and the 2 way firewall WMP 10 and some othere stuff .
one thing i remember when i first boot to it was this great big clock and calendar on the desktop that came about 2 1/2 " out from the right side .I hate things on the desktop that i don't need !!
I didn't get a chance t really do anything with it as the drive was just one i had for a few days !

I don't understand why they have to develop/release/sell something new when the not so old ones still work... I mean, you have winXP, win98 and win2k... they're working fine as long as you don't screw them up yourselves, and they can be easily updated using service packs... I say don't fix it if it ain't broke... but then again, MS is in it for the money...

Yes MS would probably like to actually make and OS that wasn't every hackers favourite play thing, but I don't think it is very high on their list of reasons for making a NEW OS, (or more than likely and new skin for 2k
) How many business's still use NT? (I know of a few) (Ok so cost of upgrading OS, and the hardware it needs is a major factor) but if NT does the job so well for companies as big as BT (for example) to still use it in some areas of their business, Why bother making longhorn?
Of course I only half agree with my own point there - I hated NT, I though 2k was a massive improvment on it, and XP was even better, without a doubt XP is the best windows OS I have ever used, as you pointed out oalee most of the XP probs are caused through user error (or just not been clued up about spam, viruses, porn sites, warez sites, p2p apps or basically been to trusting of any web site including shopping sites)
My additional 2c (almost a piggy bank)

They're one of the largest company here and yet I don't see them upgrading to win2k or winXP... it's because, "i t w o r k s j u s t f i n e . . ." with the proper security settings and all, almost nobody can screw anything up... *-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=*
