help on mod_gzip install

I do believe I have successfully installed this module,mod_gzip.dll
I also added the source file mod_gzip.c but I did not recompile the server
it was loaded as a msi file on W$K
here is the header after loading apache
[Fri Feb 11 22:48:16 2005] [notice] jrApache[init] JRun 4.0 (Build 81731) Apache
module - Jul 22 2004 11:53:59
Apache/1.3.27 (Win32) JRun/4.0 mod_gzip/1.3.26.1a running...
as you can see I am running it with a jrun server attached through a coldfusion backend manager server
all I would like to do is learn how to get log of traffic so I know that compression is working?
