Hi, I thought I would give linux a try. Is there a free version that is similar to linspire that I can download online? Also, can I set-up windows xp and linux with that MS Virtual PC?

Thanks

You should try one of the Live CD's available out there. The following 2 I'm listing are just as good or better than Linspire. They allow you to try Linux without installing anything at all to your hard drive. You download the .iso and burn it to CD then boot up off the CD and the entire Linux OS runs on the fly from your CDROM.

The two that I prefer are SimplyMEPIS and PCLinuxOS. Both are fantastic and show what great strides Linux has made in the past year. What's more is both are free!

As for setting them up with MS Virtual PC, drop into their forums and ask that question for an answer!

I have DLed SimplyMepis and burned a cd. I can boot it fine from the CD but I can't install it. It is not showing any hda drives. I am using MS Virtual PC and have heard that other people install it without a problem..

Thanks

If you're trying to install it on a SATA drive, it won't be labelled as hda. Do you have an hde or an hdf? That's what my SATA drives showed up as in most every 2.6.x kernel distro I tried.

I have installed a virtual pc on my computer and successfully installed Mandrake 9.1.3. as OS. My printer now is already working. My problem is when I try to access my pc to the Konqueror browser it is there but only the folder and not its content. Please help me!!
